Television Serves its Community” is a 1960 educational documentary revealing how television programs are prepared for transmission to the homes of a community. It follows three programs at KTLA in Los Angeles as they are planned, rehearsed, and televised. In addition to showing how television programs are prepared for transmission to the homes of a community, it also shows the use of live cameras, film, magnetic tape, and remote pick-ups from trucks and helicopters. At mark 00:45 it is explained how planning for live musical performance begins nearly a week in advance with a series of meetings before writers go to work on a script and a director plans the actual performance. We watch advertising executives at mark 02:09 discuss which sponsors to use, and at mark 2:45 learn about the use of remote broadcasting trucks used to cover events such as live holiday parades as crews prepare cameras and confirm routes. Sunday news roundup programs are featured starting at mark 03:15 as a news director and his staff go over local and national events, and we learn how some events are covered via a special “telecopter” — or news helicopter — shown at mark 03:43. The film continues featuring scenes from the rehearsal of the dance show (including a live sausage commercial at mark 06:45), additional preparation for the parade, and the news broadcast as learn more about the role of a cameraman in television broadcasts. Polka dancers rush the stage at mark 07:50 for their practice performance, news footage is readied starting at mark 09:13 (while the news chopper takes to the air at mark 10:00), and “Polka Parade” opens at mark 11:25 while we learn how the live program is sent to a transmitter that then broadcasts it to your home. The frenetic pace ends at mark 13:22 as we see shots of the highly anticipated Rose Parade a closing scene of a gigantic clown float making its way down the street. We encourage viewers to add comments and, especially, to provide additional information about our videos by adding a comment! See something interesting? Tell people what it is and what they can see by writing something for example: "01:00:12:00 -- President Roosevelt is seen meeting with Winston Churchill at the Quebec Conference." This film is part of the Periscope Film LLC archive, one of the largest historic military, transportation, and aviation stock footage collections in the USA. Entirely film backed, this material is available for licensing in 24p HD, 2k and 4k. For more information visit http://www.PeriscopeFilm.com

A look back at the 70 years of KTLA Television Channel 5 in Los Angeles. ABOUT KTLA: KTLA, channel 5, is a CW-affiliated television station located in Los Angeles, California, United States. The station is owned by the Tribune Broadcasting subsidiary of Tribune Media. KTLA maintains studio facilities located at the Sunset Bronson Studios on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, and its transmitter is located atop Mount Wilson. KTLA was the first commercially licensed television station in the western United States, having begun operations in 1947. Although not as widespread in national carriage as its Chicago sister station WGN-TV, KTLA is available as a superstation throughout North America via Dish Network (available only to grandfathered subscribers that had purchased its a la carte superstation tier before Dish halted sales of the package to new subscribers in September 2013), as well as on cable providers in select cities within the southwestern United States and throughout Canada. © 2017 KTLA (http://www.ktla.com/) Posted for entertainment and educational purposes only. POSTED 4:36 PM, MARCH 14, 2015, BY KTLA The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department on Saturday identified the suspect shot and wounded during a gun battle with deputies the previous day. Hector Javier Puga, 26, remained hospitalized in fair condition, the Sheriff’s Department stated in a news release. Puga had allegedly pointed a gun at deputies before being shot following a dangerous pursuit through South Los Angeles residential streets late Friday afternoon. After being hit in the upper torso by gunfire, Puga walked toward a nearby residence and collapsed on the front porch, his white-T-shirt stained with blood, aerial video showed. About an hour later, he surrendered to deputies and was taken into custody without further incident, according to the release. The Sheriff’s Department later said that Puga had been wanted in connection with a March 8 kidnapping in which he was accused of forcing his wife into a vehicle at gunpoint in the city of Paramount, officials said. The woman managed to escape after he stopped at her’s mother’s house so she could use the bathroom, according to the release. Deputies saw Puga’s vehicle Friday and began pursuing him after he failed to stop, the release stated. An investigation into the incident was ongoing, the department said.

Guateque. Música Española, Éxitos de ayer de hoy y Siempre.
